s1899_6.gif Empire-Dress for Little Girl from 4 to 6 years,1899 This charming little dress is in a delicate shade of salmon- pink Liberty silk. The skirt requires four widths of silk 29 inches in length for the length to quite reach the ground. It is gathered into a deep yoke of tucked silk; the yoke is lined with sateen the colour of the silk. The neck is cut square and rather low, showing a chemisette of cream Indian muslin, or of silk the same as the dress; it is gathered and sewn to the lining of yoke under the tucked silk. the top is set into a tiny band of the same. The dress fastens up the back of yoke with tiny silk covered buttons and loops. the lower edge of yoke is trimeed with folds of cream silk muslin, finished each side the front under large rosettes of the same with two long wide scarves, falling nearly to the foot of the skirt. The sleeves are tight-fitting, and have a puff at the top with a small frilled epaulette of silk muslin edged with a tiny hemstitched frill of the same.
